Transport Fever 3 Known Issues and Launch Status

Transport Fever 3 launch status in brief

Transport Fever 3 went on sale on September 29, 2026 (the PlayStation Store lists 16:00 UTC, and the official launch post is stamped 18:00 Zurich time) on Steam, Epic and GOG for Windows, macOS and Linux, and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This page is a snapshot taken on October 1, 2026, two days after launch. Things will change quickly, so check the date on each item.

PlatformLaunch buildUpdates since
Steam (PC, Mac, Linux)40408None listed
Epic and GOG40393None listed
PlayStation 540397None listed

The official release notes list each of these as “Initial release” and state that no testing build is available. You can compare your own build number with the one in the bottom-right corner of the main menu.

Official known issues (as of October 1, 2026)

The official known issues page lists confirmed bugs with any workarounds. On the date of this snapshot it had three entries, and every one of them affects consoles only:

IssuePlatformsWorkaround
PC savegames uploaded to the Mod Hub cannot be downloaded on consolesPlayStation, XboxNone yet; “compatibility will be added post-launch”
Xbox says it is out of space for saved data before reaching the 2 GB quotaXboxNone listed
Controller softlock when opening an empty build menu (for example the plane menu before 1920, or some industries in sandbox mode)PlayStation, XboxSave, then load the save again

No PC-specific bug was on the list. That does not mean PC is bug-free, only that nothing PC-side had been confirmed there yet.

Common problems with official fixes

The same support page has a separate “Common Issues” section for problems that only hit some computers. In short:

  • Black screen after changing graphics settings: press Alt+Enter to switch display mode, then pick a resolution your monitor supports.
  • Freezes on a black screen at startup: update your GPU driver and make sure the game uses the dedicated graphics card.
  • Taskbar icon but no window: the game may be on another monitor. Press Win+Shift+Left or Right Arrow to move it, or Alt+Enter.
  • Greyed-out main menu buttons: the game cannot reach Steam, Epic, GOG or an online service. Check you are signed in and restart both.
  • No mouse pointer: switch to windowed mode with Alt+Enter and try the cursor option in settings.
  • Low FPS or slow simulation: see our performance fix guide.

On Linux, the page warns against old Transport Fever 2 workarounds that copied libstdc++ files by hand. The troubleshooting wiki adds that CPUs without AVX2 and Intel-based Macs cannot run the game at all.

For Cloud, UG-Sam’s workaround is to upload a save to the Mod Hub as an unlisted item and download it on the other machine. Our save file location guide shows where saves live so you can back them up manually.

What players are reporting

These come from Steam reviews and forum threads in the first two days. None has been confirmed on the official known issues page yet:

  • Cargo not unloading at ports. The most common question in the forum threads we read. It is not a bug: ports no longer store cargo, so you need a warehouse. Our cargo not unloading guide walks through every cause.
  • Trains stuck at stations with clear track ahead, and trucks not loading at ports.
  • Track inside tunnels cannot be deleted. UG-Sam’s answer: press G to enter underground mode first.
  • “Failed to create SDL Window” stopping one player from launching at all.
  • Low and unstable frame rates, including on high-end PCs. Reviewer Cory Wells (Hardcore Gamer) also noted there is no DLSS, FSR or frame cap.
  • Smaller issues: no camera movement while drawing a route, a steam horn on later electric trains, and “travel time too long” warnings that never clear.
  • Mod Hub downloads feeling slower than the Workshop did for TF2.

The Steam store page itself showed 71% positive among 1,284 English reviews at the same time, a slightly different count from Steam’s review data. In a sample of 100 recent English reviews, the user interface came up most often, followed by comparisons with TF2, mods and performance. Our TF3 vs TF2 comparison covers why many veterans are split.

Console-specific notes

Beyond the three known issues, consoles are limited to Small, Medium and Large maps because of memory, according to the official wiki. Graphics on PS5 and Xbox offer only a graphics mode choice rather than individual settings. More on our console page.

Upcoming fixes

Urban Games had not published a patch schedule or roadmap as of October 1. The only concrete promises so far are console access to PC saves from the Mod Hub “post-launch”, more TF2 locomotives over time and a possible tutorial change. Major updates will be announced on the official site and on Steam, according to the wiki’s updates page.
