Transport Fever 3 Campaign: All 8 Missions and Star Goals
How the campaign works
Transport Fever 3 ships with 8 campaign missions set in the 20th and 21st centuries, each with its own map and story characters. You open it from the CAMPAIGN card in the main menu. According to the official game manual:
- Finishing a mission unlocks the next one.
- Each mission can be completed with one, two or three stars, or failed if you miss a critical challenge.
- Every mission also has an optional bonus goal that earns a medal.
- Some tasks involve decisions, so there is more than one way to reach the goals.
- You can resume a mission save from that mission’s page.
The manual recommends the first few missions to newcomers because they introduce the main features step by step. The missions draw on real events but, the developers note, are not meant to be historically accurate.

Tips for specific missions
These tips link each mission’s goals to how the underlying systems work. We do not have walkthrough-level detail for every map yet.
Alpine Crossing. The goal is passengers through the Simplon tunnel, and the two and three star goals add a date limit, so throughput on a mountain line is what counts. Press G for underground mode when working on tunnel track, and if you run more than one train on the line, read our train signals guide before you build passing loops. Stations do not act as signals.
Desert Adventure. The higher stars depend on how many trucks you lose before the excavations finish, so treat your truck fleet carefully from the start. We have not found an official explanation of what causes truck losses in this mission.
Oil for the People. This is a race against a competitor, so speed beats elegance. Crude oil is a Liquid cargo; matching Liquid vehicles, terminals and warehouses load faster than universal ones, according to the manual.
Island Expansion. Stars come from completed subsidy contracts. Remember that failing an accepted contract reverses its upfront reward and can add a fine or reputation loss, so only accept deadlines you can meet. Contract types are explained in our money guide.
Big City Problems. The goal is about satisfying district needs over time, so the free game’s town systems are the place to start: district cargo demands plus the noise, traffic, pollution, delivery, happiness and reputation ratings. Our town growth guide explains how each rating works and which data layer shows it.
Final Countdown. Two and three stars depend on not raising the budget, so plan the cost of each line before you build it.
General campaign tips
- Campaign maps have their own rules. The manual notes that some missions use special cargo types and individual industries that do not appear in the free game lists.
- Unloading still needs a destination. The developers’ answer about ports applies everywhere: stations do not store cargo, so put a warehouse at any transfer point.
- Back up your saves. A developer confirmed that Steam Cloud saves are not available at launch. Our save file location guide shows where saves live.
- Stuck on mission 3? A Steam forum thread titled “Stuck Mission 3” reported running short of steel; we have not seen an official answer to it yet.
Campaign achievements
Four Steam achievements cover the campaign: The Journey Begins for finishing the first mission, Story Master for completing every mission, Story Legend for every star in every mission, and Phalerist for every medal. The full list is on our achievements page, and the campaign page has more on each mission. The official manual entry is on the Transport Fever 3 wiki.
